Case Study: Repairing a PVC Pipe Break
Objective
A central Florida utility had a PVC pipe failure under a road in a bore casing. In order to prevent erosion, the utility decided to take immediate action and replace the PVC with HDPE to avoid future leaks.
Solution
HDPE Inc. emergency on-call crew was called in to replace the PVC and get the pipe back in service with a minimal disruption to traffic and area activities. HDPE pipe’s flexibility provided the ability to quickly solve the issue and get the utility back on line.
Result
Because of HDPE pipe’s seamless welding feature, the utility now has a monolithic pipe with no joint or leak paths typical with PVC and other pipe materials.
